Our volunteer spotlight this week is on Sarah Nofsinger! Sarah has been with the academy since the fall helping in biology for our high schoolers. She is now working with our middle school group! Sarah first became interested in Biology herself in high school. AP Biology further sparked her passion, so much so that she went on to graduate with a BS in Biology from Guilford College. She then got her PA-C degree from Wake Forest and was a PA in Family Practice for seven years before obtaining her Masters in Biology at the Citadel. She stayed at the Citadel for 4 years tutoring before coming to The Nest! Now she volunteers with us and provides private tutoring services on the side.

Sarah loves that the kids at The Nest are happy to be here, to be learning, and that they are all around good kids! They are what make it fun to be there and tutor. Sarah notes that each day in the classroom, even when material is difficult and kids may struggle a bit, they have many “lightbulb” moments and are excited about learning something new! “Absolutely the best part about teaching here, hands down!” she says. Sara believes that every kid can do well at science and has the ability to reach their full potential with the many difficult concepts in biology. “I try to teach with this philosophy in mind always,” says Sarah.

We cannot thank Sarah enough for her investment in our students’ education and fostering a love for science! Sarah always arrives full of energy and spark and is such a light on campus. We are grateful for each volunteer that joins in The Nest’s mission like Sarah!
