News & Events
The holiday season is a time for generosity, love, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
At The Academy, one of our most cherished traditions is the Angel Tree—a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and make the holidays magical for our students.
This year, the Angel Tree is even more meaningful. Many of our new students are experiencing the holidays for the very first time, and we have the chanceto share the warmth and wonder of the season with them. Imagine the joy of knowing you’ve not only brightened a child’s holiday but also made a lasting impact on their year.
How can you help? By becoming an Angel, you can help provide gifts that do more than bring a smile—they inspire growth, comfort, and confidence every day. Click here to adopt a student!

Transportation
The Nest partners with Eagle Bus Service and Movement School Eastland to provide convenient cluster meeting points. We do not provide door-to-door service. Cluster meeting points are preferable because they minimize the time students spend on the bus and the pick-up and drop-off times are consistent each day. The Nest Academy’s annual campaign program is the easiest and most impactful way to support The Nest Academy. All funds raised during this annual campaign support the operating budget, allowing us to offer competitive salaries to faculty, sustain and update existing curricula, offer scholarships and financial assistance to every student, food, transportation, and all operating aspects.
Our students come to The Nest from area public schools and would never be able to attend a private school like The Nest. Your gift to the scholarship fund will help those students who want and need to be at The Nest Academy.
An outright cash gift or payment on a multi-year pledge can be made by check or by donating online with a credit card. This gives the donor an income tax charitable deduction in the year each gift or pledge installment is paid.
Send Check to: The Nest at The Simmons YMCA 6824 Democracy Drive Charlotte, NC 28212
A gift of stock may provide a significant tax advantage for a donor. stocks that have significantly increased in value are excellent gifts to make to The Nest Academy. The school realizes the stock’s total market value, and the donor receives a charitable deduction for the total fair market value of the stock. Please discuss the potential benefits with your tax advisor before making the gift. To complete the transaction, please get in touch with us for necessary information.
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions their employees make. Contact your Human Resources department to determine if your company will match your gift.
Making a planned gift is an excellent way to show your support and appreciation for The Nest Academy and its mission while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. Don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance or to discuss your ways to give.
Gifts toward endowment support the long-term sustainability of the school. While the principal is kept intact, a portion of interest income is utilized to support operations yearly. Continued endowment growth helps the school maintain reasonable tuition levels while providing excellent programs and exceptional faculty and staff. If you would like to talk about this gift further, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
The Nest Pillars
Our students come from all over the world and now call East Charlotte home. We understand that diversity is what makes our city so special. Honoring diversity is vital to strengthening our community. Our students and their families’ cultural and ethnic diversity is honored and celebrated at The Nest.
Every child has the right to be seen, heard, understood and belong. When children feel a sense of belonging in a safe, inclusive, and loving community, they have the freedom to live their true and authentic selves.
At The Nest, we have seen how greatly a loving support system deeply affect student success.
We believe that respect is essential in building the relationship necessary to educate a child. When in an authentic, safe environment students’ sense of confidence, security and trust grow, fostering the power to teach and for them to learn. We model and encourage respect, trust and acceptance and honor.
We believe that true learning is a liberatory practice. We encourage curiosity, connection, and foster an appreciation and love of learning in all our students. We are actively filling in the educational gaps of our students.
