Hey everyone! I’m back! If you’ve been involved with the Nest for a while, you might remember me, but, for those who don’t, let me introduce myself. My name is Connor Derrick and I am interning here at the Nest for the fall semester. I first got involved with the Nest Academy during my sophomore year of high school at Mountain Island Charter and I have stayed connected since then in various ways. You can read more about my involvement with the Nest in this blog post I wrote 2 years ago during my first internship here. I am now a senior at UNC Charlotte majoring in business analytics and finance and I am so excited to see what this school year holds for the Nest!

Things are definitely very different at the Nest this year; we have had to implement a lot of new rules and procedures in order to provide our students with face-to-face instruction while keeping them safe and healthy during this pandemic. Face masks, air high-fives, and lots & lots of hand sanitizer have become the new normal around here! On top of that, we also welcomed 14 new students and 5 new staff members to our Nest family! Keep an eye on our page through the rest of this year as we plan to spotlight each of our new students and staff so that you can get to know them better!

We are so happy to have our students back in the classroom for in-person learning and we could not do it without you! We need your support more than ever this year so if you are looking for a way to get involved or you would like to make a donation, please reach out to [email protected] or (205) 586-9142. Specifically, we are in need of donations to purchase supplies for socially distanced learning and donations of breakfast and snack foods. Thank you so much to all who have already given of their time, talents and treasure to support our students!
